DESCRIPTION:
Geopolicity was commissioned by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) and Iraq Ministry of Agriculture to conduct an Investment Climate Review and Survey, to examine constraints to firm growth and productivity in Iraq to help identify specific policy and institutional reforms to promote investments and improve productivity.
The specific objectives of the ICS were to: (i) examine at the firm level constraints and stumbling blocks to investment and productivity increases (ii) to identify concrete ways to effectively deal with the impediments to investment and productivity growth and (iii) to identify the primary and secondary constraints to growth, based on the joint findings of this work, an HRV Growth Diagnostic and Labor Market Survey.
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
Establish an agree ICA method, sample frame and strategy, undertake representative national survey of firms in the agricultural sector based on a clear questionnaire, review results and present full report to FAO and MoA for validation, as part of the Iraq Agricultural Growth and Employment Generation Program (I-AGES)
OUTCOME:
One of 5 studies commissioned by FAO to Geopolicity to provide the evidential background for establishing a new Iraq National Agricultural Policy and Strategy.
